I signed up for the Team Athena 2013 Virtual 5K series, hosted by Rachel at Busy Mama Fitness.
Today was the first 5K race of the series and that is what I started my run. I ran it on the treadmill because I didn’t want to figure out where 3.1 miles was outside during my 12 miler. After this 5K, I headed outdoors and ran another 9 miles.
Let me just say, today’s long run was torture! If you saw yesterdays post, I did a basic workout, but apparently busted my butt a little to hard. My butt, quads, hamstrings and pectorals are so so sore. When I hit 9 miles exactly I was D.O.N.E. I could hardly walk the block and a half to my house.
I tried to stretch a little when I finally hit the driveway, but it just hurt so bad. So I just sat down in the snow to do some lower body icing. ![]()
My little G man is practicing holistic medicine skills. You know the hot rock therapy? Here is the opposite treatment, snowball therapy! [The earmuffs and staple gun are obviously necessary tools with this treatment].

Staple gun for medicine? Atta boy!
Way to get your 5k race AND your long run in!! It's always fun to finish up a long run after a race (or before!!)
