On Saturday I ran 10.25 miles. It was later in the afternoon, so I was finally able to get off the treadmill and run outside. It was just above freezing (33 degrees), but I didn’t notice the cold. Not until I turned around on my out-and-back run. Then the breeze was in my face and my chin just about fell off it was so frozen. ![]()
I usually don’t mind running on the treadmill. But living in Montana in the winter it is way too dark and cold to run in the morning before my man goes to work. I’d run during the day except I don’t want to freeze out my little guys nor do I want to push 50+ lbs in the double stroller on the ice.
So, my lot is the treadmill. Thanks to Suzanne (Cow, Lazers and Everything in Between) who suggested a couple new shows that I can watch while I’m running - Downtown Abbey, Revenge, and Biggest Loser. We’ll see how it goes.
At about mile 8 on my long run Saturday, my left hip started hurting. By the time I finished the next 2.25 miles and made it home, I was ready for some good stretching, ice and ibuprophen. I stretch and iced a lot yesterday and today it feels a lot better. I didn’t run this morning, but hopefully I will tonight or at least tomorrow morning. I should just accept the fact that my body doesn’t handle running as well as my brain does. I wish I could run long distances without ALWAYS getting hurt, but until then, I’ll just deal with the injuries. Sigh.

Are you training for anything? I am planning to do the Run to the Pub half marathon in Bozeman in March. Good luck surviving the treadmill running, glad you got out this weekend for a long one outside!
Nice job on your long run in the cold! Hope your hip continues to feel better. Netflix (instant play) is where I watched all the past seasons of Biggest Loser and I believe the first season of Downton Abbey and Revenge are on there as well. Hope you enjoy at least one of the shows!
I love running to shows! (In the old days and I had room for a treadmill) I used to make myself sprint during commercials instead fast forwarding them.I love Person of Interest and The Mentalist. I also watch Parenthood but it makes me cry....not the best when you are running! Sorry you got injured...hopefully it heals up quick.
i watch shows on the iPad while i run to distract me too! right now i'm very ashamed to say i'm caught in the middle of gossip girl. netflix is my best friend when i'm on the treadmill! hope your hip continues to feel better!
