Today was the 3rd day I ran this week. I aim for 3-4, but this week I was hoping to get in 4. Sleep and exhaustion won again. So I only got 3 days in, but I totaled 23.5 miles for the week.
Today I wanted to run about 10 miles, so I headed for my favorite hill run and set the timer for 45 minutes. I’ll say it again, hills are my favorite. Call me crazy. Obviously they suck when your quads and lungs are burning and you look up and you are still 2/3 from the top, but I love knowing that it’s making me stronger and that once I get to the top it’s smooth sailing (until the next hill, or I have to turn around).
Hot Tamales! It worked wonders and I ate two every couple miles. My man made me a super cute candy card for Valentine’s day and these were one of the candies on it. I LOVE hot tamales, but haven’t had them in so, so long. They are an awesome fuel for long runs. I always thought Skinny Runner was crazy stuff when she would eat cinnamon bears during her marathons. But now I think that will be my next experiment. For now, Hot Tamales get two thumbs up from me!

Don’t you just love candy cards. They are definitely one of my favorite things EVER!
I love the days I get to do my long runs because it gives me that much more time to just think. Usually I’m thinking about bow ties & suspenders or how to decorate the house better or my marathon, but a lot of times I’m thinking about this dang blog! Here is what I thought about today, while I was tired, running up those hills -
